Supporting the Mission

The Westwood Foundation enables members, friends, and families of Westwood Lutheran Church to donate to benefit church programming and outreach. Donors may specify the focus of their donations to a specific fund within the Foundation’s main focus areas. You may also select the General Endowment Fund, which has the flexibility to support current Westwood initiatives.

The main focus areas and the specific funds are listed below. Please designate the desired Fund under the focus area you are most interested in.

Westwood Foundation Endowment FundAdult Education

  • Donald Bell Adult Education Fund: provides funds for adult education at Westwood
  • Prazak Visiting Scholar Fund: engages religious scholars to discuss contemporary issues
  • Graham Staff Development Fund: supports the educational and training needs of Westwood staff
  • Graham Library Fund: supports the Westwood Library and the education of Westwood members and staff

Westwood Foundation Endowment FundArt & Music

  • Ronald A Nelson Music Fund: provides resources for the enhancement of Westwood’s music programming
  • Stanley and Esther Crist Garden Fund: supports Westwood’s beautiful gardens that are maintained by Westwood volunteers
  • Ralph and Dee Martinson Art Fund: purchases and maintains art that compliments worship at Westwood

Westwood Foundation Endowment FundOutreach

  • Good Samaritan Fund: addresses basic individual needs for people at Westwood and in our community
  • Shelter Assistance Fund: grants money to shelters that support housing needs
  • Darleen Hysen Community Mission Fund: addresses community housing and food shelf needs in the community
  • Don Hansen Caring Ministry Fund: provides training and programs that focus on helping and supporting our community

Westwood Foundation Endowment FundYouth Development

  • Thoni Youth Ministry and Service Fund: provides Christian education funding for Westwood youth
  • Tom Hunstad Caring Youth Memorial Fund: strengthens youth programs at Westwood including youth camps, training and service projects
  • African Youth Bridge Building Fund: provides funds for Westwood youth and African youth to meet, share and learn about each other

Westwood Foundation Endowment FundScholarships

  • Engen Family Lutheran College Fund: grants scholarships for Westwood members attending Lutheran colleges and universities
  • Louise Griver Seminary Scholarship Fund: provides scholarships for Westwood members attending a Lutheran Seminary

Endowment Fund (Undesignated Funds)

Gifts to the Foundation that are not directed to any of the Funds above go into the Endowment Fund. In cooperation with Westwood leadership staff, the Westwood Foundation uses endowment funds for a broad range of immediate purposes aligned with the needs of the church and the foundation.
