Westwood Foundation Legacy Giving
What is Legacy Giving?
Legacy giving is also known as planned giving. For Westwood Lutheran Church, this type of giving builds an endowment which, by definition, provides an ongoing source of income that allows the Foundation to grant monies for years into the future. Legacy giving can be a legal arrangement that allows a donor to leave cash or assets in memory of someone. Besides cash, these gifts might come from many different assets: retirement accounts, beneficiary designation on life insurance, and stocks. Legacy gifts provide the Foundation with meaningful funds for years to come and honor the donor’s legacy.
Comments from Some of Our Legacy Partners
“Shirley and I wanted to help the Foundation accomplish its work of getting good things done at Westwood. We found the best way to do this is by giving major monetary gifts that allow us to be present for years to come as our gift grows and new opportunities for the Foundation arise.”
— Dave and Shirley Lingo
“I believe in giving to the Foundation because each contribution is a living legacy to those honored. The money I give today will support Westwood Church’s mission forever. The grant we gave to the Foundation in honor of my husband, Gary, has helped keep his memory alive as we see the gift used each year to support Westwood’s missions.”
— Jan Prazak
“The Thoni Youth Ministry Fund was started as a memorial to my daughter, Kaari, who died in 2004 at the young age of 40. Every year it has been used to help meet the Christian educational needs of Westwood children in the WECC, Sunday School, and high school. The goal is to help all children to encounter God’s love and teachings.”
— Rev. Lee Thoni
